Students
US Empowered purposefully targets underperforming students as candidates for our program. For example, incoming students enter US Empowered with an average GPA of 2.7 and an ACT diagnostic score of 14.5. Once a critical mass of underperforming students at a given school graduates from college, the paradigm of expectations shifts. Students from all academic levels start to see college as a purposeful and attainable option.
Currently, 80% of US Empowered Fellows are African American, 14% are Latino, 4% are Multiracial, and 2% are Caucasian. In addition, 58% of Fellows are female, 42% are male, and 92% of the population US Empowered serves is low-income.
When students are inducted into US Empowered, they embark on a transformational journey toward success in college and beyond. Program Directors set high expectations and students work relentlessly to achieve measurable results. As a result, Fellows make significant gains in the final two years of high school.

"My US Empowered classmates may not say it, but the look in their eyes shows me how much they endured to get where they are today. I consider them part of my family now, and it really makes me happy to be around them and support their dreams."
-Michelle, Class of 2014
