Recruitment & Admissions

At US Empowered, we believe that all students deserve the opportunity to graduate from a four-year college. Therefore, our Program Directors market the US Empowered program to all students within their high schools and every sophomore is encouraged to apply.

Our target candidates are students that are currently underperforming academically yet exhibit potential and the desire to commit to the program. Candidates are rated using a comprehensive rubric that highlights five leadership principles that predict success in US Empowered and at college: ambition, integrity, professionalism, resilience, and resourcefulness.

Interested students complete a written application, including an essay. Applicants then have an in-person interview with Program Directors and a panel of teachers and students.

Last year, incoming students entered US Empowered with an average GPA of a 2.7 and an ACT diagnostic score of 14.5. These students consistently increased their achievement levels due to the comprehensive nature of our model. Learn more about our results.
